Richard Alvin (Dick) was born on March 6th, 1899 in Bellville, Republic Co., Kansas.1 Richard Alvin (Dick)'s father was William Edward Basham and his mother was Cora Bell Powers. His paternal grandparents were Nathan Basham and Anna Miller; his maternal grandfather was Alonzo Powers and his maternal grandmother is Mary Nelson. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Harry Edward, Alton Wesley (Pat), Floyd Mason (Dutch), Clyde Clelles (Slim), William Alonzo (Bill), Ralph Nathan (Red), Harold 'Lester' and Mary Valentine. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 87 on December 4th, 1986 in Libby, Lincoln Co., Montana.1 General Notes
