Marcus Howard was born about 1907 in Alabama.1 Marcus Howard's father was Riley Farmer Basham and her mother was Maggie Pope. Her paternal grandparents were William Farmer Basham and Mary Mandeville Webb; her maternal grandparents are William Pope and Sara Jones. She had a brother and two sisters, named Earl, Irene D. and Marguerite. She was the oldest of the four children.
