Her paternal grandparents were Eli Houston Basham and Nancy Melvina Fitzeleanor McCoy. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Gerald Eli, Junior Wetzel, Austin Barlow, Infant Son, Clara Miram and Hazel Marie.
