Eli Houston was born on July 2nd, 1832 in Breckenridge Co., Kentucky.1 Eli Houston's father was James Herrod Basham and his mother was Polly Ann Arms. His paternal grandparents were Bartlett Basham and Rachel Mayberry; his maternal grandparents are Josiah Arms and Sarah McCoy. He had five brothers and four sisters, named George W., Bartlett, Benjamin Webb, Elijah Lemaster, James E., Barbara Elizabeth, Sarah Elizabeth, Rachael Margaret and Nancy Ann.
