Jacob W. was born about 1841 in Morgan Co., Alabama.1 Jacob W.'s father was James Hogan Basham and his mother was Lucillian 'Lucsey' Unknown. His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Basham and Elizabeth Hogan. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Jonathan J. (Jack), George Jasper, Claborn C. J., Aron King, David M., James William Ellen, Beulah Elizabeth, Mary J., Francis Emily, Martha A. and Lucy Palistine. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He had a half-brother named James Alexander. He died after 1870.1 General Notes
