Clayburn Basham 
Clayburn was born on September 6th, 1897 in Ray Co., Missouri.1 Clayburn's father was Franklin Pierce Basham and his mother was Frances Octavia Griffey. His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel (Nathan) Basham and Elizabeth Campbell. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John Ellis, George Allen, Henry Clark, James 'Arthur', Mary Elizabeth, Elsie L, Rosa Ann and Beulah. He was the youngest of the nine children. Clayburn Basham, born September 6, 1897, died November 10 1969, was t

urn w as one of nine children. Dora D., born October 12, 1899, was the da
ught er of John and Anna (Christenson) Clevenger. She was born on the o
ld Mi ke Toomay farm, south of Braymer, and was named for Dora Welker. Dor
a's mo ther died when Dora was three years old. Dora had one sister, Els
ie and o ne brother, Judd. Both are now deceased.
Approximately a year after the death of his first wife, John Cleveng
er ma rried Martha Bell (Allen). They became the parents of four sons, Dal
las (k illed by a train east of Cowgill), Marshall Thomas, a retired barbe
r, w ho resided in Kansas City and twins, Farris, deceased, and Farrel w
ho liv es east of Cowgill. Clayburn and Dora were united in marriage, Sept
ember 2 2, 1917, at the Ray County Courthouse in Richmond, Missouri. Th
ey were t he parents of one son, Clayburn Lamoine (CL) (Adopted) born Apr
il 16, 193 4. His three children are Debra Elaine, Elizabeth Ann and Clay
burn Jr.; a ll reside in Kansas City.
