His paternal grandparents were Littleberry Basham and Mary (Polly) Basham. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Christopher Columbus, Jeremiah Henderson, Seth W, Abner Buel, Mary, Catherine, Rose Altha, Marian W. and Lorenna.
