Her maternal grandparents were William Doby Cooke and Chloe Bailey. She had four brothers and six sisters, named James B., Thomas G., Andrew Jackson, Oley, Chloe Ann, Martelia F., Jane, Nancy, Mary and Sarah Octavia. She is the fifth youngest of the eleven children.-
