James Walker 
James was born on October 10th, 1793 in Orange County, Virginia.1 James' father is James Francis Walker and his mother was Catherine Miller. His paternal grandfather was Thomas Walker and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Sanders. He had eight brothers and seven sisters, named Gideon, Thomas, Daniel, Frankie, Charles, John M., Sanders Andrew, Jacob, Elizabeth, Lucretia, Susannah, Sarah, Mary, Catherine and Lucinda. He died at the age of 79 on February 24th, 1873 in Waco, Brazos County, Texas.1 General Notes

There are several letters from James Walker, which are retyped p. 424-427, in "Silas Bell...." book by Shirley Newman, 1999.

"James fouth in the War for Texas Independence in William Hill Company. He received a land grant near Waco (Walker's Crossing) on the Brazos River. The land is now covered by Lake Waco. His gun is in the Baylor Archives. According to T.J. Barnes' "Early Homes of Waco and The People Who Lived In Them", James and his so, William Collet, built the house on the left in 1851 on land acquired from John M. Stevens. The house faces south and was said to be "right with the world". The address is now 3407 Dever Drive on three acres of land, but the original property was 250 acres. The picture was taken in the 1980s. The house was sold for $5,500 onFebruary 17, 1917 to E.A. Sturgis by James' grandson, James, son of William. James died February 24, 1873 in Waco, Brazos County, Texas and is buried in Cobb-Walker Cemetery there.They had 5 children."
