Amanda was born in 1832 in Monroe Co., Virginia.1 Amanda's father was Phillip Meadows and her mother was Sarah Ellis. Her paternal grandparents were John Meadows and Elizabeth Wyant. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Allen P., Marion F., Elliot S. E., Mary and Margaret. She is the oldest of the six children.-
