Sidney was born about 1866 in Logan Co., West Virginia.1 Sidney's father is Elisha Lowe and his mother is Elizabeth Doss. His maternal grandparents were James Doss and Elizabeth Bailey. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Robert E. Scott, Amos Bradford, James Madison, Thomas Whiten, Joseph A., Mary A. and Belle. He is the third youngest of the eight children.-
