Lewis Gerome was born about 1821 in Tazewell Co., Virginia.1 Lewis Gerome's father was Absolom Godfrey and his mother is Mary Ellen Bailey. His maternal grandparents were James Bailey and Margaret Stinson. He had six brothers and five sisters, named James W., Thomas, John D., George H., Armour Lawson, Oscar Paris, Juliana, Margaret S., Mahulda, Cosbi and Mary Ellen. He was the sixth oldest of the twelve children. He died about 1894 in McDowell Co., West Virginia.1 -
