Ellen was born in February 1871 in Boone Co., West Virginia.1 Ellen's father is David C. Doss and her mother is Mary E. Nelson. Her paternal grandparents were James Doss and Elizabeth Bailey. She had a brother and five sisters, named John Henry, Frances Elizabeth, Minta A., Leatha A., Dora and Cora L.. She is the second oldest of the seven children.-
