Gilbert "Sir" was born on September 2nd, 1243 in Christ Church, Hampshire, England.1   Gilbert "Sir"'s father was Richard "Sir" de Clare and his mother was Maud de Lacie.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 52 on December 7th, 1295 in Monmouth Castle, Monmouthshire, England.  He was buried on December 22nd, 1295 in Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire, Engla.1 1
