Mae was born on October 31st, 1905 in nr Cottonport, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.1 Mae's father was Joseph Lanew Couvillon and her mother was Celeste Rabalais. Her paternal grandparents were Pierre Aurelian Couvillon and Lovina Jeansonne. She had a brother and a sister, named Armond Pierre and Leona. She is the second oldest of the three children.-
