Jay Cook

Jay was born about 1894 in Mercer Co., West Virginia.¹ Jay's father was Thomas Boyd Cooke and his mother was Louisa Estas Thompson. His maternal grandparents were Howard Gordon Thompson and Louisa J. Bailey. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Forrest, Thomas Boyd, Averill Gester, Wayne, Dale, Theodore B., Leora Effie, Bertha, Lake Erie, Brada E. and Winnie Hobart. He was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. He died about 1915 in Died as a result of a broken neck sustained while playing football at Concord College, Athens, WV. He lived for three months following the accident..¹
