Mariann was born on April 29th, 1815 in Pendleton, Henry, Kentucky. Mariann's father was Lakey SHOEMAKER and her mother was Sally ELLIS. Her paternal grandparents are Jesse SHOEMAKER and Nancy UNKNOWN; her maternal grandparents are Jezreel ELLIS and Sitha HARVEY. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named Jezreel, Silas King, Benjamin, Daniel, Jeremiah, Heber, Alexander Morain, John, Jessenett, Elizabeth and Nancy.
