James Nance

James was born in 1830 in , Williamson, Tennessee. James' father was Josiah Crenshaw NANCE and his mother was Bethenia Harden Sneed. His paternal grandfather was William Howe Nance and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Veneable Morton; his maternal grandparents are James Sneed and Bethenia Harden Perkins. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named William, Costantine, Josiah, Nicholas Charles, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Bethenia, Martha Harriett, Susannah, Sallie and Virginia Tennessee. He was the oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 55 in 1885.
