John Keele 
John was born in 1779 in Henrey, Wythe, VA. John's father was Richard S. KEELE and his mother was Lydia Richmond. His paternal grandparents were Arthur KEELE and Sarah MONNOTE; his maternal grandparents are John RICHMOND and Mrs. John RICHMOND. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William M., Jacob, Richard Richmond, David, Thomas, Mary and Sarah. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 79 on November 12th, 1858 in Bedford, TN.General Notes

John Keele like his brother William, was a Baptist minister. He was born in Virginia about 1779. John was married to Nancy Green. They lived in Warren and Coffee Counties, Tennessee on Hickory Creek. Various court records indicate the lives of these people in the days before the civil war in these counties. John was a leader in the Baptist church just as his brother William. On 21 Mar 1807 the "Baptist Church of Christ on Hickory Creek" was established in Viola, Tennessee.The old church records show that Elder John Keele was one of the new leaders when the church was seperated into two groups. In 1826 the Elk River Association of Baptists was divided, led by Elder William Keele, a brother of above John Keele.
