Elizabeth Catherine was born in 1758 in Ceres, , Bland, Virginia. Elizabeth Catherine's father was Jacob Friedrich KIMBERLING and her mother was Mary Magadeline Schumacher. Her paternal grandfather was Hans Michael KUEMMERLE and her paternal grandmother is Anna Catharina HATZ; her maternal grandparents are Reinhardt Schumacher and Anna Margarethe Bickel. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Johann Reinhard, Paulzer, Michael Johannes, Jacob, Maria Catherine and Christiann. She was the second youngest of the seven children.
