Note: Re: William HOwell , Jefferson Co. Tn. Info. sent to me , some from Virginia Yancey who worked on all of these "Howell" for many yrs.--Also info. from "cousins" on the web sent the children of William Howell ect. Virginia Yancey posted the following info. on the Orange Co. N.C. Forum, in 1999: "My Howell were from Orange Co. N.C. My dec.: William Howell, may have been the son of Edward Howell and Francis Fanny Stroud, Orange Co. N.C.(her parents: William Stroud and Elizabeth(Estridge) Stroud, Orange Co. N.C. Virginia also sent us a lot of Info. on the "Howells"--- William Howell, with his wife "Prudence", and his older son, Edward C. Howell, moved from Jefferson Co. Tn., to Henderson Co. Tn., a short time before William Howell died. Edward C. Howell was adm. on the deeds of William Howell , when he died. He also went with the children of Walter Howell and Nancy Ann(Lawrence) Howell, to the Smith, Rusk/Van Zant Tx. area, when both parents died with the "flu". William Howell owned land in Grainger/Jefferson, Henderson, and other Co's in Tn. Walter Howell and Nancy lived on a land grant in Mc Nairy Co. Tn., of his father: William Howell, when they died. Children of William Howell(believed to be: 1. Delilah Howell b. Mar. 12, 1794, m. Jacob Storm 2-28-1811, Jefferson Co. Tn. 2. Alfred Howell b. 1798 Tn, Spouse Elizabeth Goheen m. July 21, Grimes, Tx. 3. Asa Howell b. 1796 Tn, m. Elizabeth Talbott 3-9-1822, Jefferson Co. Tn. 4. Edward C. Howell b. 1804, m. Amanda Brown, 1845, Rusk Co. Tx. 5. Temperance Howell b. 1802--1805, m. Ross Tallbott 5-28-1823. Jefferson Co. Tn. 6. Walter Howell m. Nancy Ann Lawrence(spelled Larrence on some Quaker records and fam. trees) Oct. 13, 1823, Jefferson Co. Tn. She was born 1803, in Randolph Co. N.C. Her parents: Richard Lawrence(Larrence) and Jane Hammond. Parents of Richard Lawrence(Larrence): John Lawrence(Larrence) and Nancy Ann Needham. The Lawrence(Larrence) were quakers, who went from Va. to Randolph Co. N.C. and over to Jefferson Co. His will only listed his wife: Francis Fanny Howell on it. Edward Howell and Benjamin Howell were adm. when John Howell died 1792, Orange Co. N.C.(no other children were listed on it).
