Susannah HOWELL 
Susannah was born on April 15th, 1783 in , Washington Co., NC (now TN). Susannah's father was Benjamin Henry HOWELL and her mother was Elizabeth BROOKS. Her paternal grandfather was John HOWELL; her maternal grandparents are Thomas BROOKS and Elizabeth Cato. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Elizabeth "Betsy". She was the oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 92 in 1875 in "Old Simms" place, Grimes, TX. She was buried in Carter Cemetary, Bedias, Grimes, TX.General Notes
Susannah was in Texas as early as 1838 when she applied for a land grant and certificate #232 was issued 29 December 1838. Susannah lost her certificate and apparently was never able to claim the land as she advertised in the newspaper in 1844 that she had lost her certificate and asked that it be returned to her. Susannah is mentioned in Texas History records located in the Austin State Library as well as the Barker Texas History Center in Austin. It has been said that Susannah was killed by a pack of wild dogs in about 1875 on the "Old Simms" place in Grimes County, Texas as she was on her way to visit her granddaughter, "Meg" ( Margaret Midkiff Plaster) in Grimes County.
