William was a person who was much involved in the new community of Centerville, formerly known as Demos. He funded the Bend Fork Church. He bought the McCloud place in Centerville and sawed the lumber and donated the land for the Christian Church which still stands on the same property. He was prosperous and generous with his wealth. William owned the "Glovers Station" in Centerville. This was an Inn for the Drovers, the men who drove their livestock on the trail through Centerville taking them to the market in Wheeling. The Inn had overnight lodging for the Drovers and water, feed, and fenced in lots for their livestock.
