John Grant was born in April 1870 in Cannon County,TN. John Grant's father was George Washington Gannon and his mother was Catherine Herriman. His paternal grandparents were George Gannon and Susanna Stacy; his maternal grandparents are John Herriman and Susan Williams. He had four brothers and a sister, named Alonzo L., Edward C., Walter H., Timothy Houston and Nicey A.. He was the third oldest of the six children. He had three half-sisters named Octavia, Mary Ellen and Susan Jane. He died at the age of 95 in 1965 in Richmond,VA.General Notes
