Martha Jane was born on November 15th, 1847 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Ut. Martha Jane's father was Absalom Porter DOWDLE and her mother was Sarah Ann HOLLADAY. Her paternal grandparents were Robert DOWDELL and Sarah Ann ROBINSON; her maternal grandparents were John Daniel Sr. HOLLADAY and Catherine Beasley HIGGINS. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Absalom Porter, William Porter, Robert Thomas, John Henry, Sarah Catherine, Mary Elizabeth and Louisa Ann. She was the second oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 81 on November 7th, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Ut.
