Her maternal grandfather was George Fisher and her maternal grandmother is Frances A. Lanham. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named Charles Bingley, George Dunreath, John Dewitt, Summitt Wellington "Wild Bill", Henry Franklin, Joseph S., Hiram Wade, Jacob, Robert Melton, Mary Ann and Sidney Catherine. She is the second youngest of the twelve children.-
