Hiram was born in 1809.  Hiram's father was Thomas Casdorph and his mother is Margaret McCown.  His paternal grandfather was Jacob Casdorph. He has two brothers and four sisters, named James H., John M., Eliza A., Frances, Mary Jane and Martha Margaret.  He is the oldest of the seven children.
