Joan was born on July 22nd, 1201 in Coucy, Alsne, France.1   Joan's father was John Plantagenet and her mother was Agatha De Ferrers.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet and Eleanor UNKNOWN; her maternal grandparents were William Robert (Walkelin) De Ferrers and Sybil De Braose. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Richard, Henry, Richard, Joan, Isabella, Eleanor and Matilda.  She died at the age of 35 on March 4th, 1237 in Aberconwy, Arllechwedd Isaf, Caernarvonshire, Wales.  She was buried in Llan-Faes, Dindaethwy, Anglesey, Wales.1 1 


Joan's first family with Llewelyn Fawr Ap Iorweth

‌Joan and Llewelyn Fawr were married in a religious ceremony in 1205 in England.1   They had a son and six daughters, named Dafydd, Angharad, Margaret, Tegwared-Y-Bais Wed, Margred Verch, Elen (Helena) and Gwladus Ddu.

‌Joan and William were married in a religious ceremony in 1228.
