Cecilia de was born about 1276 in Kinderton, Middlewich, Cheshire, England.¹ Cecilia de's father was William Venables and her mother was Margaret Dutton. Her paternal grandparents were Roger de Venables and Alice Peninton; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Dutton and Philippa de Sandon. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Hugh, William de, Elizabeth and Catharine de. She was the youngest of the five children.
