Anna was born about 1637 in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands.1 Anna's father was Casper Varleth and her mother was Judith Tentenier. Her paternal grandparents were Nicolaes Varleth and Francina Jacobs; her maternal grandfather was Abraham Tentenier. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Abraham, Nicholas, Jacobus, Janetie, Mary, Maria, Judith, Catharina and Sarah. She was the second youngest of the ten children. Anna Varlet (Varleth) carried on an extensive tobacco business in her own right. She married Dr. George Hack (Hacke)the Immigrant b. 1623-4; Graduate of the Medical Department, University of Cologne, Germany who probably lived in Amsterdam before settling on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Owned extensive land in Cecil Co. MD and Northampton Co. VA where he died in 1650-1.
