Nicolaes Varlet had been a Protestant refugee from the Spanish Netherlands. Hisson Casper went to America. His son Pieter lived in Amsterdam, Holland and hisson Daniel lived in Duinkerken, Belgium. Nether Pieter nor Daniel came to America.
When Nicolaes Varlet died he was buried in Geuzenkerof, in Cologne, Germany.
The Varleth name vanished early in the history of the colony.
‌Nicolaes and Francina were married in a religious ceremony in Koein, Rheinland, Prussia.1 They had three sons and a daughter, named Casper, Pieter, Daniel and Catherina.
