Nicholas was born about 1280 in Stapleton, Richmondshire, England.1 Nicholas' father was Miles Stapleton* and his mother was Sibill De Bella-Aqua. His paternal grandparents were Nicholas Stapleton and Margery (Isabel) Basset; his maternal grandparents were John de Bella-Aqua and Laderina le Brus. He had six brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Richard, Roger, Miles, John, Gilbert and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died before June 10th, 1343.1 General Notes
