Robert was born in 0964 in Évreux, Rouen, Seine-et-Maritime, France.1   Robert's father was Richard "The Hardy" De Normandie and his mother was Gonnor De Crepon.  His paternal grandparents were William I "Long Sword" De Normandie and Alix De Vermandois; his maternal grandparents were Herbastus De Crepon and Gunhild Von Denmark. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William "The Bastard" de, Geoffrey de, Mauger, Richard "The Good" de, Havlive De, Matilda, Emma, Pappia de and Béatrix de. He had three half-sisters named Beatrix von, Malgar de and Fredesende de.1

‌Robert and Havlive De were married in a religious ceremony about 0985 in Évreux, Rouen, Seine-et-Maritime, France.1   They had four sons named Ralph De Grace, Richard, Rodolphe Wacy de and Guillaume.
