William Lancaster

William was born about 1186 in , Barton, Westmorland, England.¹ William's father was Gilbert Fitzreinfride and his mother was Hawise Lancaster. His paternal grandparents were Roger Fitzreinfride and Rohaise Meschines; his maternal grandparents were William de Lancaster and Helawise de Stuteville. He had a brother and three sisters, named Roger, Helewisa, Alice and Serota. He was the second oldest of the five children.
