Her paternal grandparents were Thurstan De Holland and Maud de Kellet; her maternal grandparents were William de Salmesbury and Avina de Notton. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Robert II de, Thurstan, Avena de, Joan de and Margaret de. She was the second oldest of the six children.
