Nicholas Fitzrobert was born about 1126 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.1 Nicholas Fitzrobert's father was Robert "The Devout" Fitzharding and his mother was Eva Estmond. His paternal grandparents were Prince of Denmark Harding and Lividia; his maternal grandparents were Esmond De Mercia and Godiva of Normandy. He had a brother named Maurice. He was the older of the two children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named The Make, Robert, Thomas, Henry, Helen, Alice (Ala-Alicia) and Aldena.
