Marie was born about 1674 in Acadie, Canada.1   Marie's father was Claude Dugas and her mother was Françoise Bourgeois.  Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Dugas and Marguerite Doucet; her maternal grandparents were Jacques Bourgeois and Jeanne Trahan. She had three brothers and nine sisters, named Claude, Joseph, François, Françoise, Anne, Marguerite, Anne, Jeanne, Agnès, Madeleine, Cécile and Marie.  She was the oldest of the thirteen children.  She died on September 20th, 1733.1 


Marie's family with Philippe Melanson

‌Marie and Philippe were married in a religious ceremony about 1695 in Grand Pré, Acadie, Canada.1   They had three sons and nine daughters, named Joseph, Phillipe, Pierre, Marguerite, Madeleine, Angelique, Marie, Angelique, Marguerite, Marguerite Josephe, Marie-Josephe and Anne-Marie.
