Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Dugas and Marguerite Doucet; her maternal grandparents were Jacques Bourgeois and Jeanne Trahan. She had three brothers and nine sisters, named Claude, Joseph, François, Françoise, Anne, Marguerite, Anne, Jeanne, Agnès, Madeleine, Cécile and Marie. She was the oldest of the thirteen children.
