Maude (Matilda) was born about 1136 in Of, Diss, Norfolk, England.¹ Maude (Matilda)'s father was Richard De Lucy and her mother was Rohese Fitzrichard De Clare. Her paternal grandparents were Adrian Lucy and Aveline Goth; her maternal grandparents were Richard De Tonbridge De Clare Fitzgilbert and Rohese Giffard. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Geoffrey, Hubert, Walter, Godfrey, William, Dionisia, Aveline and Alice. She was the youngest of the nine children. She had two half-sisters named Albreda and Margaret. She died about 1243.¹
