Jean was born in 1160 in Acre Palenstine.1   Jean's father was Count I of Brienne Erard and his mother was Agnes De Montfaucon.  His paternal grandparents were Count Of Brienne Gautier and Adele De Rameru; his maternal grandparents were Richard De Montfaucon and Agnes De Montbelliard.  He was an only child.  He died in Constantinople, Byzantine.1 


Jean's family with Berenguela Princess of Leon And Castile

‌Jean and Berenguela Princess of Leon And were married in a religious ceremony in 1202 in Toledo, Spain.1   They had four sons and two daughters, named Guy I, Louis, Jean II, Alphonse, Yolanthe and Mary.
