Jan was born about 1640 in Kingston, Ulster Co. N.Y..1 Jan's father was Christofel Davidts and his mother was Cornelia DeVos. His maternal grandparents were Andres DeVos and Aelje Ever. He had two brothers and two sisters, named David, Joris George, Anatntje and Maritje Christofel. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Abraham, Andries, Issac and Debra.
