Louis was born in 1248 in , Isle de Chypne, Sicily, Italy.1 Louis' father was UNKNOWN UNKNOWN and his mother was Beatrice de Provence. His paternal grandparents were Louis VIII "The Lion" Capet and Blanca Alphonsa de Castile; his maternal grandparents were Raimund Berenger de Provence and UNKNOWN UNKNOWN. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Charles II, Philip, Robert, Bèatrice, Constance, Blanche and Marie Elizabeth Isabella. He was the second oldest of the eight children.
