Josiah was born in Sandwich, Barnstable co., MA.1 Josiah's father was William Swift and his mother was Ruth Tobey. His paternal grandparents were William Swift and Joan Sisson. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William, Ephraim, Samuel, Jirah, Mary, Hester, Temperance, Dinah and Hannah. He died on December 6th, 1757 in Sandwich, Barnstable co., MA.2 General Notes
