Deborah was born about 1748 in Augusta Co., Virginia. Deborah's father was Zachariah Mackay and her mother was Lydia Whitson. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mackay and Ann Brown; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Whitson and UNKNOWN Nann. She had a brother and a sister, named George and Dorcas. She was the second oldest of the three children.-
