Prence was born on October 26th, 1723 in Harwich,Barnstable,Massachusetts. Prence's father was John MAYO and his mother was Susannah FREEMAN. His maternal grandparents were James Freeman and Sarah Merrick. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Samuell, John, Benjamin, Rebecca, Susannah, Marcy, Hannah, Mary and Patience. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children. He had four half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Samuell, John, Prence, Benjamin, Rebecca, Susannah, Marcy, Hannah, Mary and Patience.
