William was born about 1170 in Altyre, Morayshire, Scotland.  William's father was Richard Comyn and his mother was Hextilda of Tynedale.  His maternal grandparents were Uchtred of Tynedale and UNKNOWN Bethoc.  He was an only child.  He died in 1233 in Buchan, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.


William's first family with Margaret Buchan

‌William and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony about 1214 in Altyre, Morayshire, Scotland.  They had a son and three daughters, named Alexander, Idoine, Margaret and Elizabeth.


William's second family with Sarah FitzHugh

They had two sons and a daughter, named Walter, Richard and Jean.
