John was born about 1438 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.  John's father was Robert Booth and his mother was Dulcia De Venables. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named William, Raufe, Geoffrey, Hammond, Robert, Edward (Edmund), Peter, Philip, Ellen, Lucy, Alice, Joanne and Margery.  He was the fifth youngest of the fourteen children.  He died in 1478.
