John Washburn 
John was born in 1780 in Cleveland Co.,NC. John's father was Gabriel W. , Sr. Washburn and his mother was Priscilla Jones McSwain. His maternal grandparents were William David McSwain and Susanna Hamrick. He was an only child. He died at the age of 77 in 1857 in Cleveland Co.,NC.General Notes
According to Roy Taylor, John and Mary had a total of 11 children. An
adopted son became Gen. J.J. Pullam. John was a veteran of the War of 1812,
serving under Gen. Andrew Jackson.
