Benjamin Franklin Washburn 
Benjamin Franklin was born on November 22nd, 1806 in Burke Co.,NC. Benjamin Franklin's father was John Washburn and his mother was Mary Ann Magness. His paternal grandparents were Gabriel W. , Sr. Washburn and Priscilla Jones McSwain; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin Magness and Elizabeth Mauney. He was an only child. He died at the age of 56 on March 5th, 1863.General Notes
According to B.E. Washburn, his grandson by B.F. Washburn's second wife, B.F. Washburn was ambushed and killed by a deserter from the Confederate Army who had previously been in a mental institution - for no apparent reason. According to R.G. Wiley,
whose grandmother Elizabeth Ray Washburn Wiley helped rear him told him that B.F. Washburn was shot and killed in his fields by one of his negro hands." - From Roy Taylor.
Note: He was Justice of the Peace from 1836 - 1862, also was County Coroner, Treasurer of Public Bldgs., County Trustee, Railroad Agent for his county and member of NC House of Representatives. He was a member of the Home Guard during the Civil War.
