Hans Georg HAMERICH was "An officer under the Kaiser, something on the order
of Examiner of Passports fro those going and coming across the ocean." He
left Germany in 1730 and landed in 1731. After being on the water for seven
months he landed in Philadelphia and settled there. He sailed from Rotterdam,
Holland. On the same ship with him were the Blantons, Greens, Bridges,
Champions, Washburns, Bowens and McSwains. Hamerick left Germany because of
his religion. Source: "Hamrick Generations" by S.C. JONES.
He sailed on the ship "Snow Louther" which landed October 14, 1731. Also
listed was a passenger, Paul HAMERICH, age under 16. Source: "30 Thousand
Names of Immigrants" by RUPP pub. 1875, p.70-71.
Hans signed his own name when he registered upon coming to this country.
In the book "Pennsylvania German Pioneers" by Strassburger and Hinkle, Vol.1,
p.54, his name is listed Hans Jerg HAMERICH (a Palatine). Vol.2 of the above
publication, p.45, is the facsimile of his signature.
