Matilda

Matilda was born in 1059 in Normandy,France.¹ Matilda's father was William I, "The Conquerer", King of England and her mother was Matilda of Flanders. Her paternal grandparents were Robert I, "The Devil", Duke of Normandy and Herleve of Falaise; her maternal grandparents were Baldwin V, "Le Debonnaire", Count of Flanders and Adele, Princess of France. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Robert III, Duke of Normandy, Richard, William II "Rufus", King of England, Henry I, "Beauclerc", King of England, Cecily, Abbess of Caen, Constance, Adele of Normandy, Princess of England, Gundred, Princess of England and Agatha. She was the fifth oldest of the ten children. She died before 1112.¹
